‘I Hope You Dance’ earns Hope Johnson a Hollywood ticket at American Idol audition

I Hope You Dance is the title of the third studio release by American country music singer Lee Ann Womack. It was released on May 23, 2000 as her first album for MCA Nashville. The title track was a crossover hit in 2000, becoming her only Number One country hit

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you’ll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they’re worth taking
Lovin’ might be a mistake
But it’s worth making
Don’t let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you’ll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)

(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

Pants on the Ground Record Deal

The 62 year-old Platt became famous last week when he made news headlines with his “lookin’ like a fool with your pants on the ground” tune, that just about everyone and their cousin is singing around town now.  At the time of his audition, AI judge Simon Cowell quipped that oddly enough he could see the song being a hit.  They even saved the segment for the end of Idol, knowing they had something special there.

As for Larry Platt’s record deal, it appears he’s been offered and undisclosed amount for a deal with Jake Records.  According to their Myspace profile, Jake Records has a few noteworthy artists to its name such as rap group Digital Underground, and one of the members from that group, Shock G, who appeared on the 2PAC song “I Get Around”.  It’s unknown if Platt has been given other offers, but you’d have to think he’s got more than a few phone calls coming in about the song and his signing a deal.  Could be quite the lucrative contract for Mr. Platt.

With the success of the song, Larry Platt’s definitely become a superstar early in the year 2010.  He’s now got his own T-shirt, website, fan sites, appearance on The View, and will probably do a lot more before this year is through.  Expect the Pants on the ground record deal to come within the next few months, and Larry Platt will continue his meteoric rise from one day American Idol contestant, to bigtime star!

American Idol Orlando: Matt Lawrence

American Idol Orlando: Matt Lawrence

Matt Lawrence is the last audition. He is a redemption story, as he robbed a bank with a BB gun when he was 15 and spent four years in jail. But he’s out and wants to be better, so that’s cool. He sings “Trouble” (that’s the Traveler’s Insurance commercial, for those of you keeping score at home) and it’s decent. He’s got some weird pronunciation things happening, but his country tone is nice. Simon says “brilliant” and very believable and authentic. He gets three yes votes. Good for him.

When the “American Idol” crew came to Orlando, they found talent that was more exciting than Chicago auditions — but still not as thrilling as “Pants on the Ground.”

Wednesday’s one-hour episode of “Idol” featured Orlando auditions with guest judge Kristin Chenoweth. She stayed for one of the two days.

Among the Hollywood-bound singers: standout Matt Lawrence, who spent years locked up after robbing a bank with a BB gun as a teen.

Brown is an American NCAA basketball player, daughter of Scott and WCVB-TV reporter Gail Huff.

In fact, her basketball stats are impressive – one of the top female basketball players in state history producing 2358 career points, the sixth leading all time basketball scorer in the state for both men and women.

Brown was best known for American Idol’s 2006 season, auditioning with “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” Later in the competition she performed “Reflection” by Christina Aguilera.

Ayla Brown auditioned for American Idol in Boston. She was eliminated from the show on March 9, 2006. For her audition song, Brown sang “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” Randy Jackson said she had a good, though undistinguished voice. Paula Abdul also thought Brown was a good singer, but that she favored vocal power over dynamics. Simon Cowell accused Brown of being “robotic and somewhat empty.” In the end, Jackson and Abdul (who made the final judgment) sent Brown through to the Hollywood rounds.

During the Hollywood rounds, Brown sang “Reflection” by Christina Aguilera, and was one of 24 semi-finalists of the fifth season of American Idol.
