Playstation Network Down, Error Code List

PLAYSTATION NETWORK DOWN, SO ARE LOTS OF PS3S

PLAYSTATION NETWORK DOWN, SO ARE LOTS OF PS3S

PlayStation Network down messages complained of little notice from Sony on the downtime, and there are some suggestions from users that the network has been deleting trophies.

It’s unclear exactly what’s going on at the moment, but it appears that the PlayStation Network is down and causing a whole host of related problems for PS3 systems, including 8001050F error codes, game crashes, corrupted trophy info, and even the complete inability to launch certain titles. There’s no ETA on when things will get back to normal — looks like it’s gonna be a Blu-ray kind of evening for PS3 owners out there.

Sony PlayStation 3 owners in multiple regions (including North America, Europe, and Australia) are facing the inability to sign into the PlayStation Network online gaming service, corrupted user data and inability to play some games online or off. The problems are accompanied by the 8001050F error code. When they try to load up certain games — including the just-released Heavy Rain — they receive the error code and the following message: “Registration of the trophy information could not be completed.

jus k , Apple Shareholders Meeting 2010

Apple shareholder attendance appeared to be up at this morning's annual meeting.

Apple shareholder attendance appeared to be up at this morning's annual meeting.

Apple far outperformed most other companies during 2009, whether in our out of the technology sector. During a year of global recession, when the highest performing businesses were flat, Apple managed to increase revenue and profits, and to double the stock value of  the company. Even better, it will be Steve Jobs that delivers the good news from last year and the almost certainly upbeat projections for the upcoming year.

Apple held its annual shareholders meeting today at the company’s campus in Cupertino, CA. Apart from re-electing the company’s board of directors, the meeting was largely uneventful, as a number of shareholders debated each other on environmental issues before voting down a sustainability proposal. According to live updates from the meeting provided to Fortune, Apple Senior Vice President of Retail Ron Johnson revealed that the company plans to open 25 stores in China, a number that would be very high relative to Apple’s previously-announced goal of opening 25-50 stores in 2010. Finally, when asked about Google CEO Eric Schmidt’s departure from the company’s board last year, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said, “Eric Schmidt conducted himself appropriately and recused himself on matters that might involve conflict.” When asked what he fears, and what keeps him awake at night, Jobs replied “shareholders meetings.”

Apple plans to add 25 stores in China over the next two years according to Fortune, who’ve been following the Apple shareholder meeting today.  Tim Cook said this week that Apple had plans to open 50 stores this year and it appears that half of those will be in China.

Apple seems to be taking China very seriously lately, especially with handset rival Google in limbo there after the hacking fiasco. Although Apple had a slow start with the iPhone in China, they’ve been ramping up efforts there considerably.

But, as often happens, word is leaking out despite the blackout thanks to iPhones in the hands of shareholders who shall go unnamed. We’ll post their dispatches (all times EST) as they come in.

Bloom Energy Press Conference

KR Sridhar, co-founder and CEO of Silicon Valley startup Bloom Energy

KR Sridhar, co-founder and CEO of Silicon Valley startup Bloom Energy

For years, there have been promises of new energy solutions that are clean, distributed, affordable, and reliable; today we learn that Bloom, formerly in stealth, has actually delivered,” said John Doerr, a partner at investment firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Bloom Energy board member. “Americans want clean, affordable, energy, 24×7 — and all the jobs that go with it. Bloom’s boxes are a breakthrough, serving energy, serving demanding customers, and serving our country.”

Bloom is scheduled to unveil the technology Wednesday at a news conference attended by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California and Colin Powell, And next week is the official press conference and unveiling. Bloom customers include eBay, Google, Lockheed, Wal-Mart, Staples and the CIA,

Bloom Energy, which has created a futuristic fuel cell that can generate heat, electricity and even oxygen for submarine crews or people trapped, Sunnyvale, Calif.-basedBloom Energy is holding a press event Wednesday morning where the company is expected to unveil further details on its Bloom Box product. In case you’re just joining us, these boxes promise to not only bring ample amounts of power in a small amount of space, but to change people’s dependency on traditional power grids. All for less than $3,000 a unit.

The Bloom Energy Server, or Bloom Box as it’s being called, promises to reduce carbon emissions by at least 50 percent per kilowatt, run on a wide range of fuels, and provide electricity at a much cheaper rate per kW, compared to today’s utility grid power system. The test systems are providing power at 8 to 9 cents per kWh, according to Mr. Sridhar. (It should be noted that this price includes various California state subsidies and incentives.)

The company has been testing the Bloom Box at 20 customer sites (with price tags close to $800k) including locations like Google and eBay for the past 18 months, which have shown significant improvements in efficiency and emissions over existing fuel cell systems.

Everyday spammers find new routes to try to get into your email inbox. Most spam consists of unwanted advertising, but some can transmit viruses, adware or spyware on to your computer and cause problems. Of course, it is also extremely annoying to go to your inbox and have to look through a whole list of emails to find one legitimate email.

An effective anti spam program can solve many of your email problems. Not only do they block unwanted spam but they can also organize your emails into folders, so your inbox only includes wanted email.

So, what does a quality spam filter do exactly?

  • Establishes White Lists and Black Lists – A white list is a specific list of approved addresses that you set. Items not on the approved list and “known” spammers automatically go to the black list and are blocked, deleted or filed.
  • Blocks “Sporn” – All good programs allow you to block a high percentage of spammed pornography. Some will also filter out “adult” contented emails or block adult oriented images.
  • Organizes Emails – Not everyone wants to block all of their emails. Most programs will allow users to build folders, such as financial, adult oriented, games or others and the program will put incoming emails into assigned folders. This gives the user a choice about which emails they want to look at.

At TopTenREVIEWS We Do the Research So You Don’t Have To.™

What to Look For in Spam Filter Software

Spam filter software should be easy to use and offer the desired level of customization. All of the programs offer a variety of features, but they are not all compatible with every email service. Therefore, it is important to look for a program that offers great features and works with your email service.

Below are the criteria TopTenREVIEWS used to rank Spam Filter Software:

Feature Set
The feature set is the package of tools and abilities. A good program gives you the ability to set rules about which email you want to receive in your inbox, reject or delete, put in a certain folder or quarantine for you to look through at your own discretion. You should be able to set up blacklists and whitelists and of utmost relevance-it should work with the email service that you use.

Ease of Use
The product should be extremely easy to use even for an inexperienced computer operator. It is helpful if the product utilizes drop-down menus, helpful icons and is arranged logically.

Ease of Installation & Setup
The product should install quickly and without errors. If additional downloads, registration or other process is required it may make the setup more complicated and time consuming.

Stability
The spam filtering software should offer dependable performance and be compatible with your other programs.

Customization
A flexible program offers many different customization choices in regards to spam filtering. The software should have the ability to block unwanted spam and should also allow the user to decide what level of filtering they want, and be in control of how the emails are organized. A good program offers all levels of filtering from high to low. High filter options block and delete all emails that are not on an approved list. Lower filter levels sort all emails and save them in folders to let the user decide which ones to open or delete.

Bloom Energy Fuel Cell Boxes Video

The Bloom Energy Fuel Cell Boxes are the device of the future being made to help provide a clean energy source

The Bloom Energy Fuel Cell Boxes are the device of the future being made to help provide a clean energy source

The Bloom Box is said to be a device that can power approximately 100 houses.

According to a press release, the box was developed by NASA scientists and can be used in different ranges of temperatures which makes the way it can be used more expansive.

Bloom Energy Fuel Cell or the Bloom Box was featured in tonight’s episode of CBS TV show “60 Minutes.’ Bloom Energy unveiled the tiny Bloom Box that will generate your own electricity from your backyard, wireless. The idea is to one day replace the big power plants and transmission line grid, the way the laptop moved in on the desktop and cell phones supplanted landlines.

In the world of energy, the Holy Grail is a power source that’s inexpensive and clean, with no emissions. Well over 100 start-ups in Silicon Valley are working on it, and one of them, Bloom Energy, is about to make public its invention: a little power plant-in-a-box they want to put literally in your backyard. You’ll generate your own electricity with the box and it’ll be wireless. The idea is to one day replace the big power plants and transmission line grid, the way the laptop moved in on the desktop and cell phones supplanted landline.

With the clean energy global initiative being one of the most focused on in the world, these boxes are said to be able to run clean and inexpensively. Major companies are said to be involved in the experimental testing including Google and Ebay.

The concept could allow households to generate their own electricity right from their backyard. It’s a completely wireless and inexpensive technology that Bloom Energy is hoping will replace the need for power plants and grids. The company is hoping to see this technology used in every household in the future. Bloom Energy is one of 100 companies that has been working on a technology of this sort, but is among the first to make an offering for its company stock to the public. That has investors salivating at the potential for one hot energy/technology stock.

Google Plans To Deliver 1Gb/sec Fiber-Optic Broadband Network To More Than 50,000 Homes

Google Plans To Deliver 1Gb/sec Fiber-Optic Broadband Network To More Than 50,000 Homes

Google wants the development to spur people into building new applications that are bandwidth intensive, as well as spurring itself to experiment with deployment techniques.

Google has announced plans to build and test a number of ultra high-speed broadband networks across the United States.

The experimental networks are expected to deliver Internet speeds that are 100 times faster than the average connection, with 1 gigabit per second, fiber-to-the-home connections.

Google is getting into the broadband business. The company plans to deploy its own “experimental” fiber-optic network to at least 50,000 homes, perhaps as many as 500,000. The fiber-optic network will deliver speeds of 1 gigabit-per-second, which is more than 20 times faster than residential fiber optic services offered today in the U.S.

Given that the purpose of my new watchdog site www.GoogleMonitor.com is making Google more transparent and accountable — I offer some pertinent questions people may want to ask Google about its new high-profile broadband plans.

  1. Does Google now believe that broadband facilities-based competition works, given that Google is freely able to enter the broadband market as a facilities-based provider itself?
  2. Will Google submit to the FCC’s regulatory jurisdiction?
  3. Will Google no longer seek to exempt itself from all the FCC’s proposed Open Internet regulations?
  4. Will Google allow competing search engines on its broadband network and agree to not monitor searches conducted through competitors?
  5. Would Google’s opaque search algorithms, ad auctions, and quality scores be subject to the FCC’s proposed Open Internet transparency regulations?
  6. Is Google committed to following through with this, or is this another PR stunt like Google’s failed public plans to create a WiFi broadband network for all of San Francisco?
  7. Will Google give priority in its build out to the ~5% of American communities who have no broadband access at all?
  8. Will Google give priority in its build-out to what NTIA considers under-served communities?
  9. Will Google publicly pledge to not “redline” neighborhoods but serve all people in a community?
  10. With over 150 million Americans who use Google’s services, and with over $10b in annual free cash flow, and ~$20b in cash on hand, why is Google only committing to make its ultra-fast broadband available to only 1 in 6,000 Americans and no more than 1 in 600 at most? Why is Google thinking so small when it believes the problem is so large?
  11. Does Google plan to provide human customer service for its broadband services or only its current web-automated Q&A service?
  12. Will Google have the highest early termination fees in the industry like it did with Nexus One?
  13. Will Google agree to serve all customers or will it maintain that it can block calls as it chooses from high cost users like it currently does with Google Voice?
  14. Will Google contribute to Universal Service?
  15. Will Google abide by the FCC’s privacy regulations (sections 222 & 551 and the ECPA) and not collect and personally identifiable information without permission?
  16. Will Google’s broadband network make copies of all users’ internet traffic via deep packet inspection like Google Chrome currently keeps record of all users’ searches and clickstreams?
  17. Will Google broadband customers be given the choice up-front to opt-out from having Google take and use their private information without permission?
  18. Will Google offer a “Do Not Track” List option for customers that don’t want Google doing the Google Chrome equivalent of deep packet inspection like NebuAd?
  19. Will Google abide by the FCC’s equal opportunity (EEOC) regulations that apply to other broadband carriers?
  20. Will Google replace the Domain Name System for its broadband network like it is proposing for the rest of the Internet?
  21. Does Google expect the American taxpayer to subsidize their purported broadband network deployment like the American taxpayer had to subsidize Google’s open access proposals in the FCC’s 700 MHz spectrum auction — to the tune of $7b?
  22. Will Google decide to build in the community that offers the most tax breaks and public subsidies?
  23. Will Google ask the NSA for help in making its broadband network secure from cyberattacks?

Google Gmail Buzz

Google rolls its own Facebook & Twitter with Gmail "Buzz"

Google rolls its own Facebook & Twitter with Gmail "Buzz"

Looking up the word “buzz” in Google, we get several definitions, like the following: “If a place is buzzing with activity or conversation, there is a lot of activity or conversation there, especially because something important or exciting is about to happen.”

Google Buzz allows users to “autofollow” contacts in their Gmail account. It allows users to share Tweets, photos and more! This new service launched today and provides a rich fast sharing experience combining public and private sharing all in your Gmail inbox. Inbox integration is a new feature that allows social interaction within Gmail.

Buzz items can be shared directly in Gmail, but are also pulled in from other social sharing sites, including Twitter, Picasa, YouTube, and Flickr.

What’s particularly cool is that the people you “follow” are auto-generated for you out of your email-based social network. If you communicate with them, they are the seed for your buzz cloud. Over time, as you like or dislike buzz entries from that network, the buzz cloud adapts.

Five years ago, Gmail was just email. Later we added chat and then video chat, both built right in, so people had choices about how to communicate from a single browser window. Today, communication on the web has evolved beyond email and chat — people are sharing photos with friends and family, commenting on news happening around them, and telling the world what they’re up to in real-time. This new social sharing is valuable, but it means there’s a lot more stuff to sort through, and it’s harder to get past status updates and engage in meaningful discussions.

Today, we’re launching Google Buzz, a new way to start conversations about the things you find interesting and share updates, photos, videos and more. Buzz is built right into Gmail, so there’s nothing to set up — you’re automatically following the people you email and chat with the most.

Ring Central

Ring Central system provides a business with a number using their local area code, an 800 number, or you can use your existing phone number on RingCentral. When a customer calls they are automatically forwarded to the device or devices that are attached to that phone numbers.

A person who does not work in a structured office location may need to depend on their mobile phone or messages to keep in touch with important clients. Using the Ringcentral system a person gets their calls where ever they are and there is no need to worry about messages being lost when a call is not received.

The desktop screen of Ringcentral is easy to use and provides many features. An important feature for call dependent businesses is the log that reflects all calls received and the caller information in a screen that allows you to call back immediately or store the number for later use.

When a person is dependent on calls from important clients and immediate contact with them the Ringcentral system provides an easy way to take those important calls immediately. When a contact calls, their name and information shows on a pop-up screen on your PC or mobile phone.

I’ve been using DigitalLine, a new VoIP service that integrated business telephony communications solutions provider RingCentral is introducing today.

My conversation yesterday with RingCentral CEO Vlad Shmunis clarified their position as differentiated from other services that route all your calls on all your numbers to one number. GrandCentral does this well, but is focused on the consumer segment. RingCentral provides a more SMB-related offering- with VoIP now integrated with landline and mobile in what essentially is a hosted PBX solution.

Aimed at SMBs with between 1 and 10 users, DigitalLine is also an alternative to lower-end Asterisk based solutions. RingCentral’s view of Asterisk seems to parallel what I have been hearing lately- that even the most guided-steps, user-friendly flavors of Asterisk are not as plug-and-play as the vendors like to say they are.

Canon Rebel T2i Rumors

Canon Rebel t2i Announced

Canon Rebel t2i Announced

The T2i shoots 1080p video at the full range of frame rates desired by hobbyists and cinema pros alike–24, 25 and 30 frames per second. It also includes the same manual exposure controls during video capture–essentially every major video-shooting feature of the 7D.

The similarities continue: An 18-megapixel APS-C sensor is inside that matches almost every feature of the 7D’s own, differing only in its speed–a 4-channel readout as opposed to 8 means a slower burst mode, capturing 3.7 frames per second instead of 8. ISO range is also similar, with a standard max of 6400 which boosts to 12,800.

The T2i also borrows the refined ergonomics and control scheme of the 7D, with a dedicated video button up top. A new high-resolution 3-inch LCD (1.4 million dots) graces the back.

So what do you lose from downgrading from the ,700 7D? The aforementioned speed, the tougher magnesium body alloy, the enhanced body shape (and thumb wheel), and the suite of still-photo enhancements like faster autofocusing and the 7D’s extremely programmable and customizable control scheme.

Still, for savings of ,000 (the T2i is 0 with a kit lens, 0 for the body only), matching the 7D in the feature areas most will care about–HD video capture and imaging sensor–is quite a nice looking package. And for those who are served just fine by 720p video, look for the otherwise-excellent T1i to come down in price.

There are two ways in purchasing of this gadget so that the price is different for each. For the price details, just see these following lists.

1. Canon EOS Rebel T2i Digital SLR will be sold in a body-only configuration at an estimated retail price of $799.99.
