USA vs Canada Hockey Gold Medal Game is one of two final games before the closing ceremonies.
USA vs Canada Gold Medal Game Time… USA vs Canada will meet in the Gold medal game in the Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010 one last time and this time its for all the marbles.
The gold medal men’s hockey game will be this Sunday at 12:15 pm Pacific Time live on NBC live from Vancouver Cananda and is the last medal event. GO USA! Read more here about the USA vs Canada Gold Medal Game Time.
The USA Team has very impressively beaten Russia and Finland previously and Americans are expecting a consistent performance from their team as the game starts in the afternoon and they will be able to watch their heroes playing live according to their time zone(All bravado to NBC). If Canada has defeated Russia with impressive 7-3 in the quarterfinals, USA beat Finland 6-1 with a fast start and scored all the goals in the first half.
A fast start of the game is expected as both the teams have won their big matches and every team would try to gain a lead in the beginning moments.
Beating Canada on Canadian ice with a pro-Canadian crowd once was difficult enough for the U.S., the surprise of the tournament and the only unbeaten team remaining.
“It’s hard to beat a team twice in a tournament like this,” U.S. coach Ron Wilson said. “But we’ve beaten Canada, and we’ll play better than we did the last time we played against them.”
The Americans have no choice unless they’re to leave the Olympics with the silver for the second time in three Olympics. Canada also defeated them in Salt Lake City eight years ago.
“We all talked, ‘Wouldn’t it be nice?’ and now we have the opportunity,” said Ryan Miller, perhaps the best goalie in the games. “We have the talent. We have some youthful excitement, we have the right kind of veteran players.”
United States of America (USA) & Canada will play Ice Hockey Final game for Gold Medal. Both teams are very competitive. Now lets see which team will grab the Gold Medal fromVancouver Winter Olympics 2010.
When this 2010 Men’s Olympic Hockey tournament started, not many had the USA still playing Sunday in the gold-medal game (3 p.m. ET, NBC), but almost everyone expected Canada to be playing for a chance to be the first home team since the 1980 Miracle On Ice USA team to win on home soil in Vancouver.
The Americans absolutely crushed Finland yesterday, and might have ruined the psyche of both Miikka Kiprusoff and Niklas Backstrom in the process. However, that will be determined after the battle for third place is resolved.
The 1960 USA squad is the only other team accomplish the feat, winning gold in Squaw Valley. But here we are with a rematch of the 2002 gold medal match that Canada won 5-2 on US soil at Salt Lake City. USA has a chance to avenge that loss and Canada has a chance to do the same for their 5-3 loss to the United States just a week ago.
Canada has also been getting big contributions from Ryan Getzlaf (3 goals, 3 assists), and Brendan Morrow (2 goals, 1 assist) up front as well. Getzlaf had a goal and an assist in the 3-2 semifinal win over Slovakia and Morrow scored the second goal in the win. Morrow has been very versatile for head coach Mike Babcock, who has used him on the power play, shorthanded and even strength.
On the blue line, Canada has been led by Dan Boyle (1 goal, 5 assists) and Shea Weber (2 goals, 4 assists) who have six point each and have helped form a dangerous transition game and lethal power play for Canada. Chris Pronger (5 assists) has also been coming on strong with two helpers in the semifinal.
Therese Rochette is the mother of Joannie Rochette, one of Canada’s top medal contenders for figure skating. Therese died suddenly on Saturday night just days before her daughter would take the ice in the hopes of winning the gold. According to the Toronto Star the Rochette family had just arrived in Vancouver on Saturday night to support Joannie as she prepared to skate in the women’s short program on Tuesday. There is no official word on the cause of Therese’s death, however it has been confirmed that Joannie will continue to compete in the Olympic games.
Wow can you imagine what the Rochette family is going through, this is terrible. The death of Therese at age the of 55 has clearly rocked the family and the Winter Olympics too. Mrs. Rochette was more than just a mother to her figure skating daughter, she was also a confidante, a friend and a pivotal part of Joannie’s support system. In an interview in 2008 Joannie had these kind words to say about her mother.
Those close to Canadian figure skater Joannie Rochette say she is determined to finish her Olympic mission despite the sudden death of her mother Therese.
“Fairly shortly after she was informed she decided she would carry on,” said William Thompson, Skate Canada’s CEO. “We will support whatever decision she makes. Honestly, I think she’ll skate. She seemed very determined to compete.”
Therese Rochette, 55, had arrived in Vancouver with her husband Normand on Saturday after travelling from their home in Montreal. Early Sunday morning Therese was transported to Vancouver General Hospital where she died. Cause of death was confirmed as result of a heart attack.
Ohno Disqualified in 500 Final, but Wins 8th Medal in 5000 Relay – New York Times
Apolo Anton Ohno was in fourth for much of the race, and as he neared the final lap, he put his hand on Tremblay’s hip. Tremblay went flying and took Sung with him. Hamelin maintained his lead, and Ohno quickly skated over the line, keeping his hope alive for silver.
Unfortunately for Ohno, the judges quickly made the call to disqualify him. In short-track speedskating, winners and losers are often decided by falls and judges decisions. This has benefited Ohno in the past. He had to shake this off quickly as he was scheduled to participate in the relay event on Friday evening.
Apolo Anton Ohno was disqualified for pushing a skater after appearing to win the silver medal in the Olympic 500 meter short track speedskating race. Ohno appeared to push Francois-Louis Tremblay of Canada on the final turn, causing Tremblay and South Korean skater Sung Si-Bak to fall. Ohno crossed the finish line second behind Canada’s Charles Hamelin, whose momentum spun him into the middle of the ice as the race ended.
Ohno stuck out his left skate but was edged by South Korea’s Kwak Yoon-gy at the finish line of the 45-lap relay. Canada won the gold and South Korea earned the silver.
IOC to investigate Canadian women's hockey team for celebration
The International Olympic Committee is a no-nonsense group, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that it is unhappy with the Canadian women’s hockey team for its celebration after winning gold on Thursday night.
The celebration, which took place after Canada shut out the United States 2-0 in the championship game, included the players drinking champagne and beer and smoking cigars on the ice, and it’s “drawn the ire of the IOC,” according to NJ.com.
He Canadian women’s hockey team is in hot water for their celebration after beating the U.S. in Thursday’s gold-medal game. After the game, players openly drank and smoked on the court — and now the International Olympic Committee is investigating.
Kim’s score was so off the charts, it would have put her ninth in the men’s competition — even though they skate 30 seconds longer and do an extra jump.
The “Queen” took it all on and delivered royally.
A gold medal.
A world record.
A women’s figure skating performance that likely will be remembered as one of the best of all time.

Even Kim seemed to be dazzled by the show she put on, gasping when she saw the monstrous score. Coach Brian Orser gave a Rocky-like victory pump, shaking his clasped fists over each shoulder.
“I can’t believe this day has finally come for me,” Kim said.
