An explosion rocked through a chemical plant near Houston, Texas, Wednesday morning shortly before 9:00 a.m. local time.
Black smoke could be seen for miles around the Bayport terminal, a container facility and chemical plant near Seabrook, Texas. Officers were responding to the scene and no information was immediately available about possible injuries, Chuck Pinto of the Seabrook Police Department told NewsCore.
At least one large boom was heard and felt throughout the area, The Houston Chronicle reported. Schools in the area were put on lockdown following the blast.
The facility is located approximately seven miles east of the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center.
