Sammy Sosa says skin rejuvenation process reason his skin appears lighter
Sammy Sosa told his friends that he feels comfortable in his own skin.
But a widely circulated photo of the former Cubs slugger make your skin looks several shades lighter.
“He is not trying to be Michael Jackson,” said former employee Rebecca Polihronis Cubs, who speaks often with Sosa.
Sosa was recently photographed during a performance at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
“He’s going through a process of rejuvenation of the skin,” Polihronis. “Women have all the time. He was surprised that looked so white. I thought it was a body double. Part of the image (apparently) is lighting.
“He is in the midst of making your skin clean. The image is misleading. He said:” If you saw me in person, you will be surprised. If you see me in person, it will not take the picture.
“People who saw him in person does not react the same way. He can not believe that a big problem.”
Polihronis, former Cubs Care / Community Relations Manager for the team, said Sosa told him he used the moisturizing treatment overnight on his face.
“He was always concerned with how it looks,” he said. “Time is probably just bad news, an awards ceremony.”
Possible side effects of some methods of skin rejuvenation are laser skin discoloration. The appearance of the treated area may be lighter or darker.
“The process was doing dermatological after years and years (play baseball) in the sun,” said Polihronis. “He came to look for rare (in photo)
