Conan O Brien Tour
Bypassing the old-school press release, O’Brien went directly to Twitter to break the news of the aptly-dubbed ‘Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour’: “Hey Internet: I’m headed to your town on a half-assed comedy & music tour
Conan O’Brien is back! He’s hitting the road starting April 12 for his “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour” and will perform across the country until June 14.
“Hey Internet: I’m headed to your town on a half-assed comedy & music tour,” Conan tweeted about the tour. “Go to http://TeamCoco.com for tix. I repeat: It’s half-assed.”
Among the dates will be a performance at the Bonnaroo music festival on June 11 and shows in Canada.
According to its promotion, the show will be “a night of music, comedy, hugging, and the occasional awkward silence.”
For tour dates and tickets, go to O’Brien’s new website, TeamCoco.com or Ticketmaster.com
Conan is barred from having his own TV show until September, according to his severance deal from NBC.
The 30-city tour kicks off April 12 in Eugene, Ore. Tickets are on sale now and cost between $39.50 and $79.50 (a Meet & Greet package is being offered for $695).
O’Brien has been off of television since stepping down as host of the “Tonight Show” on Jan. 22. He joined Twitter in late February and already has over 600,000 followers. As you could imagine, O’Brien’s tour announcement created a buzz on the internet immediately.
“Alert! Teamcoco.com is jammed with too much traffic,” O’Brien tweeted about a half hour after his announcement. ”If you can’t get on, go to http://ticketmaster.com to buy your tickets. See you soon.”
He will appear on stage performing musical numbers, skits and “occassional awkward silence,” with his Tonight Show crew, including sidekick Andy Richter and The Tonight Show band, The Wrap reports.
